When we returned from vacation last week, it was too late to go grocery shopping on Sunday night. That meant a week’s worth of takeout, which in turn meant a trash can full of styrofoam containers and plasticware. As easy as it is to order Chinese or get pizza delivered, I always feel guilty when I try to stuff yet another “disposable” container in the trash (hence the nifty aluminum coffee mugs and water bottles I tote to work and Starbucks).
Not sure I’m ready to bring my own spork and stainless steel take-away containers to Golden Wok for my kung pao chicken, but these tips for greening up your take-out meal give me hope for treating the overflowing-trash-can epidemic in my house.
